Susan Albertsen from Mask Makers Web is opening an exhibition showing some 150 masks in the castle "Soebygaard" on the far away and beautiful Danish island Aeroe.
Aeroe has a special interest in masks because the island is gifted with a rare old masktradition, that takes place in the wintertime, where many inhabitants puts on masks and costumes.
The inspiration to this exhibition comes mainly from masks, face paint and headdresses in North and Southamerica, Papua New Guinea and Africa. There is also a small unit showing Susan`s attempt to create a Nordic Mask expression. The public will will have the opportunity to try on masks themselves. There will be examples of masks and costumes from parades and plays and information about the use of masks worldwide.
