From 01 to 08 of December 2007
From 01 to 08 of December 2007, it will take place in the ancient town of Amelia, middle of Italy, an intensive workshop (8 hours a day) in mask construction. Master, director and mask-maker from Colombia, Bernardo Rey will conduct a hands-on workshop, creating the mask character, making a plaster mould of the face, constructing the masks, (three types including complete masks, half-masks or prothesis), and theoretical lesson of the history and use of the mask.
The mask appears in time as an essential instrument to open a window to the extraordinary world. We could say that it reflects the true face of each culture.
To construct and to put on scene a mask means to awake the imaginary and concretize it in an action. This involves different expressions like literature, visual arts, theatre, music, dance, etc. She obliges you to confront yourself with the roots of different cultures, its myths, its fantastic characters, sacred and pagan, and the social environment.
The construction, as well as its use, require a high and refine technique to catch the attention of the spectator.

Analysis of the character and drawing the project.
Analysis of the bone structure of the face.
Realisation of the plastic mould of the face of the participant.
Construction of the mask in clay with precise measures.
Realization of the negative mould of the mask.
Realization of the positive mould.
Isolation of the plaster.
Construction of the mask in leather.
Extraction of the mask and cuttings.
Work on textures of the mask and final painting.

Cost

?380 Without lodging and without food. The materials are included in the price.

* In the town its possible to find a youth hotel and many Bread&Breakfast at very low prices.
English, French, Spanish and Italian spoken.
