CHALON DANS LA RUE - french streettheatre festival

Riddu Ri??u / Norway 
Description: Today Riddu Riddu is one of the greatest and most important Sami cultural events at the North Calotte, distinguished with the labels of quality and diversity. The festival has now found it's shape. In addition to being a Sami festival, it is also a stage for artists from all parts of the Circumpolar area. Both historically and culturally the Sami has many traits in common with other peoples of the North. The festival aim at becoming a meeting place for these.

Un proverbio lucano, infatti, recita "a Sant'Antuon maschere e suon" il primo segnale dell'arrivo della festa pi? colorata e divertente dell'anno ? dato dal fuoco. In quasi tutti i centri lucani il Santo dei maiali, delle mucche, delle pecore e di tutti gli animali domestici viene ricordato con l'accensione di grandi fal?. I fuochi vengono accesi nelle piazze principali e soprattutto davanti alle chiese perch? vengono benedetti dal parroco.

Carnival in BAHIA 
Description: There are several versions on the origin of the word "Carnival". In the Milanise dialect, Carnevale means "the time when the use of meat is taken away", since Carnival is precisely the night before Ash Wednesday. In Brazil, the event is the greatest popular cultural manifestation besides soccer. It is a mixture of fun, party and theater which involves art and folklore.

Rijecki karneval/ Croatien 
Description: The town of Rijeka has been well known for its carnival festivities since the Middle Ages. In ancient times, the guests of the Rijeka Carnival were the nobles from the Austro - Hungarian Empire, Russia, Germany and all of Europe. The most famous mayor of New York, Mr. Fiorello la Guardia, included his impressions of the 1906. Rijeka Carnival Ball in his book "Memories".

Famous People,s mask for a good cause 
Description: Dubarry (Porcelaine de Limoges) have produced a series of pill/trinket boxes based on the Masks produced for the Princes Trust by 500 celebrities and well known spokespeople from the worlds of art, music, theatre, film, politics, business and sport. Each celebrity was invited to decorate a clay mask. The results are a stunning collection of original designs. Pictured top right are three of the boxes from designs by Sting, Bette Midler and Mary Quant. The actual masks by Sting and Bette Midler are pictured
