A milliners approach to maskmaking  Popular
Description: Borrowing materials and techniques from millinery, maskmaker Katherine Snider has perfected a way to build lightweight, face-hugging masks. As Plates 1 and 2 demonstrate, each of her masks is a testament to her artistry. Just as importantly, each of them is the result of an approach that uses inexpensive and entirely non-toxic materials. This article, the first in a two-part series, describes the crafting of the base that is common to all her masks. Its sequel will address more advanced issues including the use of non-traditional materials and ways to finish a mask.

How to make a dolphin / papier mache
Description: "The only "store bought" material is paint (tempra, poster or finger paint all work well... acrylic paints work great, but don't wash out of clothes!!!) We mixed white and black to make our own grey. Alternatively, you can mod podge (mache) on 1 inch squares of grey tissue paper. Or make a "funky dolphin" by maching on 1 inch squares of patterned tissue paper or napkins"

Papier Mache / Jackie / UK  Popular
Description: (SITE with help for beginners in Papier Mache - beautiful artwork - gallery. Good information and recipes) Jackie says: I have been influenced by many artists and sculptors and by things I see around me. I am always on the look out for bits and pieces that I can use in my work. For instance, I saw a pile of oval wooden "advertising boards" being sold off in a shop for 50p each and I bought several as they make excellent bases.
