| Description: | The performance 'Comoedia Humana' is a poetic kaleidoscope of seven human destinies, which continually create new patterns and stories as the paths of the characters cross in the most unexpected ways. Against the throbbing backdrop of the modern city, a number of situations crop up which reflect reality in magical glimpses.
The Indian girl who is forced into marriage, the sports star who collapses, the architect whom age catches up with, the failed painter who suddenly becomes a success, the old man who has lost the meaning of life, etc. Common to all of the seven characters is that they reach a point in their lives where control cracks and new fantastic or disastrous combinations open up.
A musical-visual flow, an almost dreamlike sequence of moving and humorous images, sends the characters into situations where boundaries between everyday life, memories and miracles start to blur. Until they 'return' again, a little bit wiser about the diversity of life. The whole liberally mixed with a down-to-earth comic effect from the well-known Italian Commedia dell'arte.

| Description: | Christmas plays, masques, pageants and the like were largely patronized by the Tudor sovereigns, and the fashion set by the. Court was followed in the country. Queen Elizabeth was not only devoted to the drama, and herself performed, but she was very critical and exacting; and the high demand which she did so much to stimulate, was followed by ,such supply as was given by the surpassing dramatic genius of the Elizabethan age of literature. Later, Ben Jonson and Inigo Jones combined to produce the Court masks, one of which, ? the well-known "Mask of Christmas," had for chief characters, Christmas and his children, Misrule, Carol, Mince Pie, Gambol, Post and Pair, New Years? Gift, Mumming, Wassel, Offering, and Baby?s Cake. In the 17th century the Christmas Mummeries of the Inns of Court were conducted with great magnificence and at large cost. | | hits: | 582 | | Added on: | 19-May-2002 | | Comments: | 0 |
