| Description: | Why giant puppets? They're big. The puppet project uses the apparent simplicity of spectacle as part of a process of creating critical publics, in this case, around issues of food democracy.
The puppets and narrative under way are based upon the motto of the Poughkeepsie Farm Project -- connecting food, land and community. The story they tell is a three-part CSA story: the not-at-all simple story of 1) how it came to be that the average bit of food travels 1500 miles from plow to plate, 2) of the mechanisms and implications of this literal distancing of people from their sources of food, of 3) what it might mean to bring food, farm and community into meaningful connection as CSA does. The central characters and largest of the puppets personify "food", "land," and "community."
