The designs include classic Commedia and Greek styles, realistic human faces, neutral masks, animals and fantasy creatures. All of these masks, with the exception of the Art Masks, were designed for theatrical use. Half and 3/4 masks are available for speaking characters. a Step by Step guide to creating your own Life Mask! Welcome! I've created this site because I've discovered that so many people, like me, are absolutely fascinated with masks. This site is a kind of "e-guide" that will lead your easily and successfully through both the technical steps (it's easy-really I promise!) as well as some of the more profound therapeutic applications and soulful self-discovery that can be realized by making your own (or another's) Life-Mask. For starters you might want to take a look at About Masks and a few Examples of Self-Masks? or, if you're ready to dive in and get started, you can just jump right in to Making a Face Mask and let your Self-Mask begin! I offer Mask Making Workshops, and I Create Commissioned Life Portrait Sculptures of people using the life casting as a mold for a ceramic or bronze finished piece...

Anitra Watley Allen is a clay sculptress whose award winning work is exhibited widely, particularly in the Southwest. She makes masks, pottery, sculptures, mosaics and jewelry combining her heritage with both ancient/modern ceramic techniques. Her work is mainly hand-built, Raku or pit-fired, and often adorned with beading, feathers, fibers and other decorations derived from nature. A biologist by training, Anitra enjoys involving herself in the more technical aspects of ceramic art. She built her own kilns and formulates the greater part of her glaze colors. She has taught ceramics since 1981, conducts workshops on her craft and often acts as a technical consultant for other potters. Anitra maintains her studio in her home in Arizona.

NOVICA ARTIST Here showing 3 beautiful masks made of silver. "In my work I seek to recover the folklore and joy of the Andean people." ?I was born on April 17, 1952. For 24 years I have dedicated myself to metalwork in Lima, the city where I got married to an able smith, from whom I learned the art of working with silver and plaques. Today we have a small family business, in which my children are also involved, and we work together with dedication, constantly developing new products. "

ALEXIS SEEPO has traveled to the far corners of the earth studying metaphysics, indigenous cultures, ancient and modern myths, legends, and media. Her search led to the creation of GYPSY RENAISSANCE over 25 years ago. Ms. Seepo uses a collage technique in the development of her designs. Using specially selected feathers, stones, sequins, beads and trimmings, she allows their colors and textures to mix together naturally. Her creations are wearable works of art, and may also be displayed as wall hangings.

Hello! The Website that you are about to see features traditional and contemporary ceramic art. You are always welcome to leave your comments and spend some time on it, and maybe a little bit of money. The "sophisticated" design of this site was done exclusively by person who wrote this text, made these pictures and all the ceramics, so please do not be upset if some links will fail or pictures won't open.

Back in the late 1970's, the influence of Planet of the Apes, Rick Baker's King Kong, and Star Wars inspired many of the members of this group to start experimenting with acting, make-up, props, and costumes. The discovery of science fiction conventions in the LA and San Francisco areas lead us to assemble the Merry Monkeytime Players several times per year for weekends of fun and debauchery. Reuniting for John Chambers' 75th birthday party in '97 brought back all the fun, childhood memories, and inspiration that led us all in creative career directions. The Players of APEMANIA come from all walks of life. Some of us are actors, some are artists, all of us love Planet of the Apes. Here's a look at who we are with and without make-up. Click on the characters for each performer's own unique story

Christina Conrad is a well-known eccentric in her native New Zealand. For more than 20 years she lived as a recluse, hacking out her own, tribal wilderness. These masks are reflections of the wraiths and spirits with whom she kept, and continues to keep, company. Conrad says: "There is something magical about holding a lump of clay in one's hands. It speaks. The unconscious is working, opening, while the hands are busy

NOVICA ARTIST "I was born in 1946 in Ancash, Peru. I am a self-taught artist, dedicating myself to ceramics and craftmaking since my youth. I specialize in masks influenced by the Vicus, Mochica, and Nazca cultures. I focus largely on the mix of form and color, and despite a lack of formal training I have created a unique, personal style. I try to always remember my roots, while also learning from my readings and travels. Everyday I hope to improve myself, and achieve a style that is both gratifying for me and for those who are interested in my work. Now that I know my art will reach many people, I will dedicate all my efforts and emotion into creating pieces which will resonate in the hearts and minds of my future following. Thank you."
