OThER: Using Wool Paper RSS

    • Hello Everyone!

I have recently received my package of 300 weight wool paper from Squires Group. So far, I have used it as torn strips for papier mache masks. Has anyone used it differently? Is there something else that I am missing? I thought it might have had more fibers, but it does not. It is nice and thick, though. It will work well for a first layer. I have not tried making pulp with it, but that will be my next step.

      Thanks.

I met a mask maker who uses a similar paper in a negative plaster mold. The thin paper is used for the first layer so that it forms to the fine details of the mold. The thick paper is used after that, 2-3 layers, to strengthen the mask. She said that she did not think this paper would work as well for paper mache over a positive form. It is good for use in a negative mold because it is both flexible and strong.

    • Hello Alyssa.

Thank you very much. That would make sense.
