    • I have recently attempted mask making in the hopes to become good enough to create them as favors for my wedding. I have created several clay forms and made 50 masks but as good as they are for a beginner i have a problem with smoothness once the mask paper mache is removed from the mould. I was wondering if this was because i was using the wrong materials. Paper type, or glue. or if it could be my tecnique,or even the smoothness of the mould. Any info would be great.

    • Hi Victoria,
Have you checked the smoothness of your mold ? If it is not smooth, it will transfer it's texture to the paper. The paper you use should be able to soak water, depending on how it's made, they have different abilities to do that, so always use a paper that soaks well and do some tryouts to find how long you need to let it in the mixture before applying to your mold. And you can soften the surface of your papier mache with fine sand paper.
      Have fun
