• I would like to take a class on making maks out of neoprene. Does anyone know of such a class? I have found instructions in several books but I am concerned about the safety of the material and want to learn how to handle it without causing damage to myself or the environment.

• I teach a mask making class here in Chicago, where we consturct masks out of neoprene. We just ended our spring session last night and our next classs will be in September. To learn about the technique I use , you can go to my website, www.knezzmasks.com and click on the "Process" button and you will probably learn a lot there. I find the material very safe, using the basic safety precautions like eyewear, and very durable. Most of all I like the fact that it has the ability to capture your sculpture perfectly, something paper maiche struggles with. And it is semi-rigid when cured so you can display, as well as, wear your work of art.
I will be coming down and teaching a Mask, Movement, and Character workshop in Louisville , Ky. on June 4th. You can read a description of that on the site also.
I hope this was helpful. Good luck.

P.S. Jeff Semmerling also teaches maskmaking using neoprene and I believe he is holding a workshop soon. Look him up at ww.maskartists.com.
