For the person inquiring about Margot Masks, Dorothy Margot English Brown was my mother and she made quite a few of these miniature masks as well as larger ones. I have a great many masks, both finished and partially done and all kinds of remnants from her business which I would consider donating to a museum. It shows how a woman in 1930 created an idea and carved a niche in the business world. Does anyone know where this might be donated? Geoff
hi, i am delighted to discover this info on margot's masks. i have a collection of 22 small or miniature masks and three large ones. these three consist of a turbaned man (valentino?), a chinese man (also done as a miniature),and a
platinum blonde. the first two are in perfect
condition. it's always amazed me that in the
world of collecting and antiques very few people
know of these gems. would like to share and discuss more with others.
The only thing I wanted when my grandmother passed were these masks. One of a man, I think and s/he came with a pack of cigarettes that actually work. The other one is wearing a top hat with sideburns. There are so unique and I would love to get more information on them and where I could find more. If anyone out there can answer some of my questions I would be greatful. Thank you !! !
