MAKING MASKS: Mask Making in Rhode Island RSS

    • I have a few questions to ask:

Firstly, I've never actually used any type of mold making materials ever before.

I'm trying to figure out how to make a half mask for my Gargoyle.
I don't want a full facial mask, just from the nose up.
Here's a link to the face I'm trying to do: the mask is more for the horns, brow ridge, bald cap and ears.

I'm thinking I'm going to have to make a cast of my head, (which I don't know exactly with what), then sculpt the shape and make a plaster mold of that, and I was planning on using foam latex for the mask cast. Can you paint foam latex?

Ok, last question, how would I find some one locally, in Rhode Island, to either help me in this, or some sort of work shop? Do I start by calling the local theatres? We don't have any costume stores nearby.

Thanks for the help! I really appreciate it!
