MAKING MASKS: sheet music RSS

• I saw on a few sites on the internet that some masks had sheet music on them. It was only on parts like the forehead and it had an aged look to it. So here are my questions:

1.How do you get sheet music on a mask?

2.Is it simply paper mache or is it paint?

3.Is it possible to do a whole mask with sheet music?

• there is an acrylic medium with wich you cover a photocopy. I've just found out about this one and haven't tried it yet, but it is meant to become sort of a transparent membrane that is easy to use on surfaces that are not flat. I've ordered it last week and will try it very soon !
to find a little more abut it go to

I've used regular fimo paste : you press a photocopy onto a thin layer of fimo paste, you put on a stone that goes into an oven (the kind they use with cermamics), aftzer it is "cooked" you peel the photocopy and it leaves a negative print. The only drawback is that as thin as your fimo layer was, it stays rigid.
I've used the latter on two of my masks Scifivette 1 and K?. On my homepage : http://homepage.mac.com/owlmoon1

• Hello.

It is as easy as decoupage. Yes; a whole mask can be done that way. Tearing it in places would help in the application. If you want small sections of complete music, then pick an area that is flatter. Otherwise, it will have to be torn or cut to fit smoothly into place. It is usually ornamental and doesn't matter if it overlaps. Liuqid starch can be used, as well as anything similar if it is done over papier mache masks. Diluted white glue works fine.

• Ok thanks I used a flour water mixture and it worked great. It was a little tricky in certain areas but after all of the pieces were in place, I just painted over the mask with the flour water mix and it blended everything perfectly. I can't even tell where one piece ends and another begins...plus this gave it a dirty, aged look which I like.

• this also looks good if you coat it with seal it with something glossy
