LOOKING FOR MASKS: Looking for NYC mask galleries, shops, maskmakers

   • I'm a student in central new york writing my senior thesis on masks. At the end of the month I am taking a trip to NYC and was wondering if anyone would be able to direct me to some mask galleries, shops, and/or boutiques! I've been to New Orleans and have fallen in love with the venetian mask shops and wondering since New York is such a cultural city if I would have any luck finding some there. Any recommendations on shops with masks from around the world in NYC would be greatly appreciated!!

     Please check out The Metropolitan Museum of Art for their exhibits. New York City is a melting pot of cultures upon cultures. Chances are that you may see ethnic mask vendors on the sidewalks. Remember that unlike New Orleans, New York City is very Cosmopolitan and hustle,bustle of a different sort. The culture of Broadway offers great shows with some of the best masks and costumes. Check ahead for events and festivals for dates and times. Check with cultural art centers to see what they have to offer in different parts of New York.
