We all have our motivations for mask making, our own need for this unusual form of personable expression. Some use the mask as disguise, others as a more perfect portrait than the mirror provides.
Speaking only for myself, as that's all I can speak for, my masks are an expression of sensuality. Contrasting materials reflect contrasting social, emotional and frequently sexual expressions. Avoiding (hopefully) pretentiousness, I find a picture of myself wearing the masks I make a revelation in itself. Oftentimes, the mask says more than I expected or intended.
My question to others is, does the mask you make exceed your expectations, your limitations(self and societally imposed), and do you occasionally find youself emotionally exposed in an unitended fashion.
