MAKING MASKS: Mask Handles/Sticks RSS

      I am looking for mask handles/sticks to buy, preferably in black for the weding favor masks that i am making and i can't find any anywhere...any suggestions (we don't want to paint them so wooden dowel rods are out)

    • I don't know if this will work, but go to your local junk yard and get as many of the telescoping antennae that you can lay hands on. I used a bunch of them once for a couple of projects. Best of all, you can vary the size of the stick by pulling them out to the size you like, and lightly pinching the place where it telescopes, so that the stick stays at that length. These will be a blackish tinted silver, if that will do.

      Other than that, you might go to one of your local machine shops and ask if they could supply you with some yards of Delrin or a similar plastic, if they can find it in the right diameter (I assume you want it about 1/4&quot; to 1/2&quot; diameter, right?). They might even cut the Delrin to the right length, if you like.

      Other than that, if you can find some really cheap fishing rods, that also might work, if you cut them to size.
