• I'm new here and just begun making life masks with plaster gauze. I use "live models" instead of plastic molds. Each one has it's own personality and I decorate my masks as I see the personality of the person who models for me. I've only recently begun decorating them with material, beads, and other embellishments. Everyone likes my Jesters the most. I'm now trying to figure a way that they can be hung, but yet allow someone to try them on without the string being in the way. Would anyone happen to have any pointers on this aspect? I'd surely appreciate any input. I uploaded some pictures to the Gallery, but don't know if I did it right or not. I sent an email that I uploaded, hopefully they'll get there? :casstet:

P.S.....It took forever to figure out how to reply to a post here. Now I'm trying to figure out how to post a new topic! Can you help in this area as well??

Thanks
Adrenne

• Hi Adrenne.

Use strong cord that can be untied. Loop through or attach to the sides of the masks by means of a hole or strong glue. They can be hung or worn. However, it is not practical to wear a plaster mask due to the weight and shattering factors.

• Adrenne,
I used to make plaster-bandage masks for theater productions and they held up very well. I think Rozani thought you were casting plaster masks, which would certainly not be practical for wear.

I used to hang them with the same ribbon I used for people who wore them, along with an extra nail in the wall for the top of the mask to rest on. I hope that is a clear enough explanation.

• Thanks to both of you. Rozani, I believe Jonette is correct with feeling you thought I was casting plaster masks. I am not casting plaster masks to be worn. I make my masks with plaster-bandage strips.

I saw that my masks have been uploaded to the gallery. If either of you want to take a look at the type I'm doing, (I'd love for you to take a look and let me know what you think), mine are the first ones listed on the gallery page. I tried using the ribbon for ties, but they loosen up when I'm hanging them. I'll have to work on that to perfect it. I also did a half mask that has the stick to hold onto. It was of my daughter's face and turned out really pretty. I just finished a blue Jester (using my grandson's face as the model) and it turned out so nice. Everyone loves it, but neither are in the gallery yet.

Thank you Jonette. I don't know why I didn't see those buttons before. It certainly lets you know how new I am.

Thank you both. I appreciate your input and help.
